If I had a kid-free afternoon and nowhere to be, I would…
keep it simple and take myself on an in-home date that includes making myself a delicious lunch/dinner, watching a movie and then soaking up the silence in a hot bath with a mound of bubbles.
What's the one thing that helps you stay sane as a parent of little ones?
Maintaining sense of self is definitely the biggest thing that helps me to stay sane as a parent. Don't get me wrong, I love nothing more than interacting with and teaching my daughter, but she has come to know that I love to get ready every morning and loves to get ready with me! She'll play with my makeup and uses my brushes on her face, it's hilarious. I'll turn around and she never fails to get eyeshadow or lipstick somewhere on herself.
What is your favorite part about GP?
My favorite part about GP is that you're not stuck with the same toys. They carry a huge green-friendly variety, but you try out a few at a time and it keeps my home refined and clutter free which is the biggest bonus in my eyes.
My daughter's favorite part about GP is the swapping out of toys each month. Rosie's never playing with a toy for too long, she moves from room to room as I have different activities setup per room and her GP toys stay on the shelf in our living room. She makes her rounds and it's nice for her to be able to come to that same shelf to fresh toys each month.
What do you and your child do once your GP box arrives?
We sit down on our couch, I pep Rosie up to excite her for what's in store since she has no idea yet what's in the box. Then I open the box and let her take out each cloth bag and we open them one at a time. Immediately she clings to those new toys.
As a veteran Green Piñata Mom, how do you make the most out of your GP experience?
I take in the types of toys that Rosie gravitates towards. Each child is different, so I think it's important to test the waters and when I review our GP shipment each month, I make sure to choose things I have never seen her play with before. Then I can find out exactly what she favors so she can learn to love all the toys that come in her future boxes too.
