A month ago, we welcomed our second little bundle of joy into the world. While we couldn't be happier (maybe a little more well rested, but not happier) I do have a few thoughts after our second child.
Register for Two Kids to First Time.
I wish someone had given me this tip while registering for baby #1…If you are, at all, even entertaining the idea of a second child, spring for a monitor that comes with at least two cameras. We registered for one that came with one camera and you could opt to buy additional ones separately. We didn't…And now they don't make them anymore, so I am left with scouring eBay and Facebook yard sale sites looking for one. Along with the monitor thing, look into getting a stroller that can accept a second seat (and buy the additional seat). We didn't, so now I have 5 (no joke) single seat strollers that are useful only if I become an octopus.
Love Your Baby Carrier.
If you thought life with a toddler was a daily challenge just wait until a newborn is tossed into the mix. Baby wearing has become the only way to get things done around the house! Good thing I have three different carriers to choose from (I may need an intervention here!)
Stock Up On Dry Shampoo.
Nap when the baby naps…Yeah, OK…Today marks one month since we came home from the hospital and it was the first time that both kids were napping at the same time, so I of course, binge watched some DVR. What I really should have done was shower! Showers are an indulgence. They don't happen often and when they do, chances are they are the quickest thing ever. You better stock up on dry shampoo while you can!
If They Deliver…Sign Up!
Green Piñata has been an absolute lifesaver for our toddler – especially with all the diaper changing and feeding we're doing around here for our newborn. With less time to entertain our toddler, I rest easy knowing he's playing with engaging learning toys – not to mention, he feels extra special when he receives his monthly box and finding items to excite him is one less thing I have to worry about! In addition to using Amazon, Subscribe & Save for bulk necessities, we've also added services like Peapod and Prime Pantry to our life because have you ever tried to put a toddler, an infant carrier AND a week's worth of groceries in one shopping cart? Well, don't. Deliver is the way to go my friend.
At the end of the day, no matter how many children make up your little family, having a support system in place is key. My husband and parents have been so amazing as our family expands. Also being able to work for an amazing company like Green Piñata has been so refreshing. Knowing that I have the support of my boss and co-workers makes it that much easier. They say it takes a village…I'd say I'm very fortunate with the village I have.
